Jayson Tatum and LeBron James had a playful moment right after the Boston Celtics’ 126-115 Christmas Day victory over the Los Angeles Lakers. In the course of their small talk, the four-time NBA champion even shook hands with Deuce Tatum—Jason Christopher Tatum Jr., Tatum’s son.

Deuce interrupted James and Tatum’s talk by trailing after his father, which piqued the interest of the 38-year-old. James, his face contorted into a broad grin, exclaimed:

“Oh my!  Good holiday season to you! Hey there, dude! Here it is, have a great holiday season!

At Crypto.com Arena, the Los Angeles Lakers fell short against the Boston Celtics. The Lakers have lost three games in a row to the Celtics in the previous two seasons.

While Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with 25 points, eight boards, seven assists, and a block, LeBron James added 16 points, nine boards, and eight assists.

The two NBA stars clearly have a great rapport off the court as well, as evidenced by their familiarity with each other’s families and the time spent together after the game.

Antagonism between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics dates back to 1948. Jayson Tatum and LeBron James are carrying on the long-lived rivalry as the franchise’s faces change.

On multiple occasions, Tatum has praised James for his performance and the value he adds to the team. In real life, aside from basketball, the two are great friends. As a child, Tatum admired James.

As terrific as he is, Tatum once stated, “He probably doesn’t get enough credit” (via Lakers Nation). But I have a close relationship with him and we’re really close. Still going strong in his 21st season in the league, LeBron James is an exception. He’s 38 years old. Night after night, he has been a source of 25.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, 7.3 assists, and 1.5 steals for the Lakers.

With a record of 23-6, the Boston Celtics now have the best record in the NBA Eastern Conference. The Lakers now hold the ninth spot in the NBA Western Conference with a record of 16-15.
