Taylor Swift Reshares ‘Speak Now’ to Unveil Her Love Story with John Mayer

This past weekend, Taylor Swift re-released her album Speak Now with a fan-favorite song called Dear John. Supposedly a letter sent to her ex-boyfriend, John Mayer.

However, both stars never confirmed their relationship. But they performed together several times in 2009 when they collaborated on the song Half of my Heart. However, this short and turbulent relationship ended after just a few months with much tension and dissatisfaction.

After ending their relationship, Taylor Swift released the song “Dear John” on the album Speak Now in 2010. In response to a harsh letter from his ex-girlfriend, John Mayer also released the song “Paper Doll ” with lyrics that respond to Taylor’s words.

Although it has never been confirmed that this song refers to John Mayer, the 1989-born singer shared with People: “When people end a relationship, they should write that person a letter and say things like that.” what they wanted to say. Many people wrote but didn’t send it. As for me, I decided to put that letter in the album instead of sending it.”

Recently, Taylor Swift unexpectedly performed the song Doi Ta – Dear John for the first time after more than ten years as part of her Eras Tour. However, the talented singer affirmed that the purpose of performing this song again is not to attack his ex-partner like what the audience heard.

As I prepare for the release of this album, I hope to spread good spirit and kindness on social networks. I decided to re-release the album because I wanted to own my music. That’s why I decided this,” shares Taylor, “Even though I’m 33 years old, I don’t care about what happened to me when I was 19 except for the songs I wrote and memories.”

“I didn’t release an album so you guys feel like you have to protect me from people you think I wrote songs about 14 billion years ago,” Taylor insisted.

In this release, the song Dear John was ranked number 5 on the album. Taylor Swift admits that this is the most personal and emotional song for her.

“When I made the album, I wanted to deliver a personal and profound song. So, I chose to bring a very honest and vulnerable melody to this fifth song,” Taylor Swift shared about decided to re-release Dear John.
