“One of America’s most iconic vehicles” is driven by Devin Baker, who arrives at NBa Game with a “grin of aggressive beаt.”

The Phoenix Suns’ star player made a grand entrance at the Los Angeles Lakers’ In-Season Tournament game, arriving in a stunning 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air painted in the vibrant purple El Valle hue.

Despite being benched during the recent 122-119 loss to the Lakers, 27-year-old Devin Booker, the 6-foot-6 shooting guard, captured attention as he pulled up to the Footprint Center in the eye-catching Chevy lowrider.

Booker’s choice of the classic car was not arbitrary; according to NBA.com, he personally selected it as a way for the Suns to pay tribute to their Mexican-American fan base with the release of the 2023–24 City Edition uniforms.

The team’s specially designed court and the purple and orange “El Valle” jerseys were created to honor the lowrider lifestyle prevalent among the Chicanos in the city. Booker’s Chevy, adorned with recognizable Chicano pinstriping, echoed the same color scheme.

Efrain “Bugs” Gonzales, a renowned vehicle builder in the Valley, crafted the design for the convertible.

The 1957 Bel Air, deemed by Trust Auto as “one of America’s most iconic vehicles,” stands out with its Corvette-inspired grille, described by TopSpeed.com as resembling “the grin of an aggressive beast ready to pounce and play with its prey.”

Back in the day, the chrome-laden 1957 Bel Air stood out with its 283 cubic inch Super Turbo-Fire V8 engine featuring groundbreaking fuel injection technology.

Chevy aimed to “put the purr in performance,” enhancing both fuel economy and performance, according to General Motors.

Fans were impressed by Booker’s arrival, with one commenting, “Love how Booker represents AZ and his love for lowriders.” Another remarked, “Man knows a great classic when he sees one,” appreciating the synergy between the car, court, and jerseys.

Devin Booker, sidelined at the beginning of the 2023–24 NBA season due to a calf injury, played in just two games during the first two weeks, averaging an impressive 31.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 10.5 assists. Despite the setback, fans continue to admire Booker’s taste in vintage cars and his unique style on and off the court.
