When a dog mom in Kingston, Jamaica, named Demi heard that her pup, Han Solo, had wandered off from home the other day, she wasn’t entirely surprised. Han Solo is notorious for slipping out without being seen and exploring his neighborhood, no matter how hard his family tries to keep him in.

Thanks to a GPS tracker on Han’s collar, Demi quickly tracked his location to the country club next door — one of his favorite places. She waited for him to return home as he always did shortly after escaping. But he was nowhere to be found this time, which led Demi to search for him.

“Too many hours had passed and my mother had begun to worry …” Demi wrote on X. “So naturally, I put on some walking gear, grabbed the leash and his [favorite] ball as I took to the golf course!”

Demi scoured the golf course, using the GPS tracker on her phone to zero in on Han’s location, but she couldn’t find him anywhere. That’s when she realized Han’s GPS tracker hadn’t updated his location in a while.

“So I decide [on] a Hail Mary and ‘search for signal’ while frantically running up and down the area, screaming his name out and whistling,” Demi wrote on X.

After nearly 40 minutes of running around the golf course while screaming her pup’s name, Demi started losing hope. She called Han’s vet for help and then heard a familiar sound.

“While I’m on the call, however, I hear a bunch of barking and figure I should at least see what’s going on over there …” Demi wrote on X. “As I’m walking over there and talking to the vet on the phone, I get a notification … ‘Han Solo has been found!’”

Demi lit up when she received the alert that Han was nearby. She followed the GPS tracker to an area of the country club she hadn’t yet searched, and she was shocked by what she discovered.

“Guys, when I tell you I was not prepared for what I saw …” Demi wrote.

In the clearing, Demi found Han surrounded by a pack of dogs whom she’d never seen before. She called Han’s name, but the playful boy refused to budge. He was clearly having fun with his group of friends, and he wasn’t ready to go home yet.

After minutes of trying to convince him, Demi successfully peeled the dog away from his friends.

“He relinquished, tail between his legs … and came to put on his leash,” Demi wrote. “As all good things, the [party] must come to an end …”

Han Solo walked home defeatedly alongside his mom while planning his next attempted escape to see his friends. Later that night, as the mischievous boy settled in for a nap, his parents adjusted the fence to ensure he wouldn’t break out again.

Han Solo hasn’t escaped in the days since, but his mom can tell he’s itching to hang out with his friends again. She’s confident they’ll reunite soon, but this time with supervision.

“He’ll see them again, man,” Demi wrote in a reply on X. “The [party] will continue another time!”
