Chrissy Teigen and John Legend love animals and have always had a few pups of their own. When we asked them if they wanted to play a brand-new game called Truth or Dodo, they were happy to give it a try with their dogs, Penny and Pearl.

Truth or Dodo is our newest celebrity series. The concept is pretty simple — if you pick Truth, you have to answer a pet-related question. If you pick Dodo, you have to do a fun (and often funny) activity with your pets.

They began by picking Truth — and accidentally started things off with a bang.

“Has your dog ever jumped on your bed in the midst of a ‘moment?’” Chrissy read out loud. They hesitated, but a truth’s a truth, so they answered as best they could, with Chrissy saying that it used to happen more “back in the day when moments were more frequent.”

“We’ve been together for 17 years,” John joked.

Next, they selected a Dodo, which prompted them to impersonate one of their dogs as if they had a human voice. Like most pet parents, the pair already had a voice for their basset hound, Pearl, whom they imagine speaks like a Southern belle. They then selected another Dodo, which asked them each to draw a portrait of one of their dogs and the other had to guess which one it was. John chose Penny, and Chrissy chose Pearl, and both the drawings were pretty accurate. (Penny’s a 3-legged rescue pup who could not be mistaken for anyone else!)

The couple also took some time to talk about their new dog food line, Kismet, and why they decided to launch it together.

“We love our dogs so much, they’re such a big part of our lives,” John said. “We care what they eat, but we felt like a lot of dog brands didn’t really speak to us or really understand what being a pet parent was all about.”

Their dogs’ favorite products from Kismet are the chicken and barley flavored food and the slow-cooked salmon square treats.

The pair has had pets together since 2008 and currently have four dogs, four kids and a bearded dragon. Their pets are their kids, too, and they want the world to know just how much they mean to them.

“Dogs can be everything,” Chrissy said. “Dogs can be crazy, silly, happy, fun, sweet — and they can also be, like, absolutely unhinged and total trolls, and we love that part about them, and we love all parts about them, so we wanted to share every different side of animals and what it’s like to be a pet parent.”
