Chris Pine’s Dream Double Date: Making Memories with His Two Incredible Foster Dogs!

Chris Pine couldn’t have been more excited when he found out The Dodo wanted to set him up on a Dodo Dream Date. Chris has two foster dogs, Max and Jack, who have both been single for six months now — so he decided to take them each out on a date to show the world just how wonderful they both are.

The first date of the double feature was with Max, a 2-year-old pup who’s full of energy. Max was rescued from the streets and was super sad and skinny when Chris decided to foster him. Now, he’s full of life and ready to find his forever home. Chris would adopt him in a heartbeat, but he already has a full house — his two resident pups, Wednesday and Babs.

“He’s just a lover,” Chris told The Dodo. “He’s an absolute lover.”

Chris and Max spent some time outside together, hiking around and stopping frequently for lots of pets and cuddles.

“He really likes physical attention like I do,” Chris said. “And loves to cuddle. And he’s got incredible hair like I do!”

Then Max needed a quick nap — so Chris turned his attention to Jack. Jack is also 2 years old and needed a separate date all to himself since he’s not big into other dogs. He’s a mastiff who was 40 pounds underweight when he was first found, with nails that had grown over his paws and a nasty case of pneumonia. Now, Jack is a healthy, giant lovebug of a dog, and Chris is really hoping someone will fall in love with him soon and give him the life he deserves.

Jack and Chris decided to chill at a picnic table and have a bite together.

“He’s a very elegant eater, too, which I’m sure everybody will appreciate,” Chris said.

Chris has been fostering both dogs since October and can’t understand why they haven’t been adopted. He’s a huge advocate for rescue and wants Max and Jack to be as loved as his own dogs. Chris is also a huge fan of vintage cars and occasionally takes his dogs on rides with him.

“Trying to drive stick shift with a dog … dogs arguing over who’s getting more love can be quite tricky,” Chris said. “But they love it!”

After Jack and Chris finished up their picnic, Max came back so the pair could wrap up their hike. Max had a blast watching for crickets and enjoying the Los Angeles sunshine while Chris talked a little about his upcoming directorial debut, “Poolman,” which comes out in theaters on May 10th.

“It’s a joyful, fun, screwball comedy caper that within it has this really lovely story about being alone, and what it’s like to feel it and want to connect and find love,” Chris said.

Wanting to connect and find love is exactly what Max and Jack are looking for, and they both have different ideals when it comes to their perfect forever home.

“Max [is a] super family-friendly, ready-to-go kinda dog,” Chris said. “Such a lover. He’s such a sweetie pie. And Jack — Jack is probably a one-dog owner kinda thing. Unless you have a really big house and really have handled dogs of that size before. I cannot wait for them to get adopted. I’ll be jealous as any prospective boyfriend would, but they’re incredible dogs.”
