Emma Stone feels regretful for calling Taylor Swift vulgar words at the Golden Globe Awards earlier this year, Pagesix reported on February 22. The actress confirmed that there was no enmity between the two and that it was just a joke between her and her friend. However, Emma Stone still received backlash from the Taylor Swift fan community.

“So stupid. I will definitely never joke like that again. Everything has been pushed too far,” she said in an interview with Variety.

Previously, both were present at the Golden Globe Awards ceremony taking place on January 7. When Emma Stone was announced as the winner, Taylor supported her wholeheartedly. Backstage, Emma also had kind words for Taylor: “We’ve known each other for nearly 20 years. I’m so happy that Taylor was also nominated tonight. I really feel very happy.”

However, Emma’s next joke was criticized as obscene, making many viewers uncomfortable.

Emma and Taylor have known each other and been close since their first meeting at the Young Hollywood Awards in 2008. Although the two have not shared much about their relationship, they are often seen hanging out together. Late last year, Taylor also attended the premiere of Emma’s movie Poor Things in New York.

Last June, Emma revealed to Vanity Fair that it was Taylor Swift who helped her get tickets to the Eras Tour , even though the tickets were sold out at that time.

“I’ve known Taylor since we were just 17 or 18 years old. She is a great friend. I feel lucky to have been close to Taylor for a long time,” the Poor Things star shared.
