Basketball clubs sent their deep condolences to the family of their former player – Brandon Hunter after he unexpectedly passed away at the age of 42.

Ohio University men’s basketball head coach Jeff Boals shared the sad news about the passing of his former student. The cause of death has not yet been specifically disclosed.

The Orlando Magic Club posted a condolence message: “We are extremely sad to learn about the passing of our former teammate, Brandon Hunter. My deepest condolences to the entire Hunter family.”

Hunter’s friend, retired former NBA player TJ Ford, mentioned the former NBA player’s passing on social media. “We just talked last week,” Ford said. Recently, I’ve lost a lot of friends.”

Brandon Hunter is an outstanding basketball player at Ohio University. He was selected three times to the Mid-American Conference regional team of the highest level (Divison I) of the NCAA system (National Collegiate Athletic Association). This includes his final season in 2002 and 2003 when Hunter reached the top, averaging 21.5 points, 12.6 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game.

Hunter was drafted by the Boston Celtics with the 56th pick in the 2003 NBA Draft. He played 36 games for the Celtics in his rookie season, averaging 3.5 points and 3.3 rebounds per game. After that, this player did not have much “acting ground” and began his “nomadic” basketball life through many other clubs such as Orlando Magic, Milwaukee Bucks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Brooklyn Nets. He even “adventured” to basketball tournaments in European countries such as Italy or Türkiye.
