Despite causing a lot of trouble in the past two years, Draymond Green’s future is still guaranteed at the Golden State Warriors. But for the rest of the squad, there won’t be any safe names except Stephen Curry.
New technical director (KT) Mike Dunleavy said he will use the next month to evaluate the quality of the Golden State squad. The results of this process will determine whether the Warriors need to enter the transfer market or not in early 2024.
Draymond Green has just received an indefinite suspension from the NBA for his violent actions against Jusuf Nurkic (Portland Trail Blazers) last Wednesday. Pioneers born in 1990 will need to meet some conditions set by the tournament before being able to compete again.
Mr. Dunleavy did not specify the request of the NBA or the team for Draymond, nor did he share the time this player is expected to be absent. However, one thing is certain: Golden State will not let Draymond Green leave.
“Draymond has been here for a long time, contributing greatly to the Warriors’ collective success, including championship titles over the years.
Therefore, the team will not turn their back on him, instead they will see this as a time to help Green and look forward to a more positive future.
There are many parties involved in this process and we will continue to work hard to help and support Draymond so he can return soon.”
The NBA suspension prohibits Draymond Green from playing and also does not allow him to attend Golden State Warriors matches. However, Green can still practice and travel with his teammates.
This is expected to be a difficult time for coach Steve Kerr and his students. But it is also the right time for Technical Director Mike Dunleavy to do something important, which is to reassess the quality of the squad.
The Warriors have lost 3 of their last 4 matches (as of December 14) and have had more losses than wins since the beginning of the season. Golden State’s total record is currently 10-13, pushing them down to 11th place in the Western rankings.
“The next 10-15 matches will have a huge impact on the team. This is the time that will determine our future direction ,” said Mr. Mike Dunleavy.
“I don’t think we need to talk about Draymond Green anymore, instead it’s about the rest of the roster. We need to further evaluate the cohesion of the players, squad rotation and other professional issues.
If we cannot return to the ground (bring the win rate to above 50% – PV) and win matches, the team will need to make certain changes.”
In his first season in office, Technical Director Mike Dunleavy had to face important decisions related to the personnel of the Golden State Warriors.
One of the most difficult problems to solve today is the future of Klay Thompson. And while that was still unresolved, the Draymond Green saga resurfaced and made things even more difficult.
