Accordingly, the dog Bobi lives with his owner Leonel Costa in the village of Conqueiros, southern Portugal. Bobi is a purebred dog of the Rafeiro do Alentejo breed, trained to protect livestock.

Mr. Leonel Costa said that since Bobi was recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s oldest dog, many fans have come to visit Bobi. But now, Bobi has difficulty moving and has reduced eyesight because he is old.

Having so many people visiting now makes Bobi nervous. “He took a lot of pictures and had to stand up and sit down many times. It is not easy,” Mr. Leonel Costa said.

It is known that on May 13, more than 100 people and a performing troupe attended Bobi’s 31st birthday party in his hometown.

Bobi’s owner believes that this dog’s longevity may be partly due to the quiet and peaceful living environment.
