In the 9th round of MLS 2024, Messi played excellently with 1 goal and 1 assist to help Inter Miami defeat Sporting KC 3-2. Notably, the Argentine superstar’s goal was a long-range masterpiece.

Messi’s top performance helped him be honored as Outstanding Player of Round 9. This is the first time since joining Inter Miami that the owner of 8 Golden Balls has won this proud award.

In addition, Messi also entered MLS history as the first player to score at least 5 goals and 5 assists in his first 5 matches. The 36-year-old striker is also on par with former famous players including Landon Donovan, Thierry Henry and Raul Diaz Arce when contributing to 10 goals through the first 5 matches in an MLS season.
