According to Shams Charania, Danilo Gallinari will join Milwaukee Bucks on a free transfer. Previously, the Italian pitcher had contact with the Chicago Bulls, LA Clippers and Cleveland Cavaliers.
This season, the 35-year-old veteran has played for the Washington Wizards and Detroit Pistons. In 32 games, he played an average of 14.8 minutes per game, averaging 7.3 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists.
In 15 seasons, Gallo played in 48 Playoffs games, including 28 starts. He contributed to helping the Atlanta Hawks reach the Eastern finals in 2021, losing to Milwaukee.
Gallinari does not seem to be the perfect piece for the Deer Herd right now. The team needs someone who can defend well on the wing, but the free transfer market does not have many suitable names.
The Italian pitcher is more famous for his offensive ability than his defense, but he can add 3-point shooting ability to the team without having to make coach Doc Rivers sacrifice his physical strength. During his career, the 6-foot-8 player shot an average of 38.2% from beyond the 3-point line.
“Whenever you have a pitcher with good physical shape, that’s always an important factor,” coach Rivers said about the deal before the team officially announced it. “He is also an experienced leader. He understands the right way to play, and is also an excellent passer.”
Not only that, Danilo Gallinari also clearly understands the style of play that coach Doc Rivers wants to build. He spent 2 years with the LA Clippers, from 2017 to 2019.
