The Sporting News’ 2022-23 Season Rankings: Top 30 Best NBA Players

The year 2022 is about to end, it is also the time for experts and fans to look back at what has gone through.

Below is the ranking of the 30 best players in the NBA, voted together by the global Sporting News team. Each team member will present a list of 35 people with decreasing points for each position. From there, the ranking of the Top 30 best players in the NBA 2022-2023 has been determined.

Compared to the previous rankings, Anthony Davis and Jayson Tatum are the names with the best development. Meanwhile, Chris Paul is gradually losing form, while Domantas Sabonis and Dejounte Murray still cannot appear in the top 30.

Alexander is making fans at OKC Thunder less nostalgic about Russell Westbrook. The 24-year-old defender is the NBA’s third-ranked scorer with 31.6 points and is full of hope of becoming an All-Star for the first time this season.

Williamson is the youngest player to make the list. After a season without playing due to injury, the 22-year-old player proved why he is considered the most outstanding talent of his age. Williamson’s speed and power have helped the Pelicans thrive this season.

Heat got off to a difficult start, but Butler still maintained his level. He remains the league’s top two-way player and is a reliable address in key moments of the match.

11. Anthony Davis, Lakers

Davis is often plagued by injuries, but when healthy, he is a top player in the league. The Lakers’ most sublime performance series this season is associated with Davis’ top performances.

At the age of 38, James still maintains amazingly stable physical condition and performance. Although no longer at his peak, James is still a player that no defense wants to face. It’s only a matter of time before James surpasses Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the NBA’s all-time leading scorer.

Before getting injured in the match against the Pelicans, Booker was the top scorer in the tournament. He had 5 games scoring over 40 points, including 2 games scoring over 50 points. In the last match against the Pelicans, Booker played his best game of the season with 58 points.

Morant continues to develop steadily at the age of 23. He is a defender with both extraordinary physical strength and a good basketball mindset. Morant is expected to be one of the defenders who will lead the NBA after Stephen Curry’s reign.

Last season, Embiid was the MVP runner-up and the first center forward to win the scoring champion in more than 20 years. This season, Embiid played even better. He is in the highest scoring form of his career and with support from James Harden, Embiid promises to explode even more.

Tatum continues to develop further in his 6th NBA season. Changing coaches before the season has no impact on Tatum. He continued to develop and become one of the most dangerous players in the league.

Doncic appears to be too talented for his 23 year old age. Despite the problems in the Mavericks squad, Doncic still played sublimely and brought home the victory. Despite having to multitask, the Slovenian star has never disappointed his fans.

After a bad start, the Nets are coming back strongly, winning 12 of the last 13 matches. And the best player in that sublime series was Durant. The Nets’ number one star possesses a comprehensive set of scoring skills and is nearly unstoppable once in a shooting position.

3. Nikola Jokic, Nuggets

Reigning MVP, Jokic continues to maintain his class this season. He plays the role of the main scorer, recovers the ball and takes on the task of creating play at the Nuggets. However, Jokic still completed all assigned tasks well and led the Nuggets to fly high on the Western rankings.

2. Stephen Curry, Warriors

Curry proved to be even better than the last NBA championship season. The Warriors haven’t played well this season, but it could be disastrous without Curry. Curry’s excellent performance many times helped the Warriors narrowly win. Without Curry, the Warriors only won 1 game and lost 6.

At the age of 28, Antetokounmpo is entering the most “mature” stage of his career. Antetokounmpo is a terror for all opponents in attack and defense. Over time, Antetokounmpo’s skills have improved. His throwing skills, which are his weakness, are also being overcome over time.

Antetokounmpo does extraordinary things. To the point where being able to put up 30+ points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists on a nightly basis is accepted as normal if it’s Antetokounmpo.
